Just getting into AoS with spouse. Looking for pointers suggestions, inspiration.

So anyone else getting into AoS with their spouse? Looking for tips. I have the Dominion box, she has her sights set on Seraphon and loves the idea of casting. We're going to a local GW store next week.
Also, I know there is some geographical variance to the local community but how does it normally fare? I usually see 40k being played at stores here but is it well supported?
