Finding trails

Aside from dishing out the 400 on a moto oriented GPS, what do you use to find trails? Sometimes I need to get from point A to point B via hours of mind numbing highway riding, but I'd love to get the bike dirty when I get there (or somewhere along the way). I rarely have the time to just explore and "roll the dice" on finding fun roads these days.
Are there apps, maps, websites that you recommend?
