I’m not here to discuss the ethics or morality of Princess Bubblegum; however, what I would like to point out is that calling Princess Bubblegum tyrannical or evil should demand having that same perspective towards a lot of institutions not often viewed as evil. A prime example regarding the state security argument is the United States, the United States has an illusion of freedom and justice, yet, it is quite apparent that it’s only a facade. Under the patriot act the government is allowed to investigate and violate the privacy of citizens as they please. The government also buys the information of its citizens and catalogs it. We also have the illusion of free and fair elections, yet, we are forced to choose between candidates from only two parties because the other parties are often suppressed and gaining influence and votes is a struggle for them. Furthermore, The U.S’s foreign diplomacy is beyond evil, they overthrow/murder democratically elected governments and their officials when it is against their own interests. The US is just one extreme example, but many other governments act in similar ways. I also believe that if PB is held to such a standard as being evil for creating citizens for her to rule, I believe other gods, especially the Christian god should be held to the same standard. If any god exists and we live in a world where children get murdered and starve to death, they should be considered evil. A god that creates humanity just for it to suffer should also be considered at least evil and possibly more so than Princess Bubblegum. This is not being typed in defense of Princess Bubblegum nor is it calling out members of the subreddit. I’m not assuming any of your beliefs because it’s possible that some completely agree with what was typed, but for those who have yet to think about it in this light: it is disingenuous to regard a cartoon character in this way and not and not the very real institutions that we are surrounded by in our own daily existence.
