I wish Marceline and Princess Bubblegum developed love over the course of the show, instead of dropping the "oooh they had a complicated past but they were in love the whole time" type of thing. It felt more like a fan service ending rather than a genuine ending.
Totally agree. It feels like the show wants you to see terrible things she's done, then throws it out the window by playing the "oh but she's just so tired of stupid people" argument.
I wanted Marceline to be the one that showed princess bubblegum that she's not as great a person or a leader as she thinks she is, then they break up and stay friends. I feel like that would have been great development.
The majority of the characters don't ever specify their gender
I'm going to forever pretend that's what happened 😂
Literally! She shits on the candy people all the time, meanwhile she's the one that shat them out 🤷🏽
That's a great point! That's probably the exact reason too. I doubt the writers behind adventure time give a fuck about if their characters are gay or not. If anything they're probably rooting for representation.

Simon was fine, it's Betty that was unhappy with his condition. I do wish Betty would've found love or just accepted Simon as he is.
