Dunno if I should say this but I always considered adventure games to be one of those genres that only existed when I was a kid. Itās such a shame that thereās little demand for them outside the indie-slash-cozy gaming niche. Matter of fact, thatās how I rediscovered some of that childhood joy now that Iām a 28yo semi-depressed man ā non-traditional stuff like Paper Trail with simple puzzles and a focus on isometric exploration and enjoying the art of the game, and more CRPGish stuff like Disco Elysium. Different games essentially but same kind of āvibeā if that makes sense.
All of them gave me the urge to replay the old goldies but unfortunately, my PC either canāt run many of them ā Broken Sword Angel of Death is the prime suspect here ā or my modern gamer brain just canāt get past the graphics. Iām acting spoiled and I know it, but though asking here could hurt so here goes. What modern adventure games would you recommend that have decent graphics OR a very original artstyle that you canāt pinpoint, ie. a timpless kind of beauty that stays fresh even if the game is say, a decade old. Donāt mind difficult puzzles either, but would prefer a focus on the adventure, the narrative, and the story, preferably one thatās rounded up and just hits that āsatisfyingā button when you finally finish it.
Being really vague here, I know so shoot. Anything and everything goes that comes to your mind. Think ā classic with modern polish. So remakes are welcome as well. Thanks a lot in advance, everyone!
If On A Winter's Night, Four Travellers might scratch that itch. I have a huge list of games I could write out for you but they're all pixel graphics like you would see in the Monkey Island 2 era, so not sure if they would be what you're looking for or not.
