Hello! I am a first year law student - turning 24 soon. Fresh graduate diretso law school sa big 4 pa.
Struggle is — hindi naman kami mayaman to afford more than enough. What does it mean — kinakaya ng tatay ko (solo parent) to have 3 children in a private school 2 college and one LS. And I admire him for that. He works a full time job sa government and side business to make sure na we have enough — kaso it was just enough. Nothing more, nothing less. When I asked if I can have new glasses it hurts me to hear na “Ay wala pa. Baka magawan ko ng paraan pwede kayang down payment muna?” Since 10-15 days naman yung glasses ko pumayag yung clinic.
Dont get me wrong, never naman nadelay tatay ko sa pag bigay ng tuition or rent ganon. Pero kapag may extra need na talagang kailangan paghandaan. Lalo if not necessity like food, place and all. Kapag naman may sakit ako one go lang nakakapagpadala agad siya.
Syempre — tumatanda na, kailangan ko na rin ng personal money na I can spend on things I personally need and want na too much na to ask from him.
Kaso the problem, hindi ako pinapayagan. I mean I have my own will syempre matanda na ako pero ayoko rin na masaktan siya. Back story: tatay ko ay isang illegitimate child sa probinsya and when he was in college sinabi na ng tatay nya na mag stop na siya because they cant afford pero tumuloy ko siya. 1st year college bread winner na siya because his mom got paralyzed nyan. So hangang makatapos siya —( ni hindi siya naka attend grad because of grad fees and all) self sustaining siya and I guess — nobody expects the illegitimate child to raise children in big schools. Kaya ayon — tapos lagi nyang pinagyayabang na may anak siya sa law school sa big school. I kept offering to work or umuwi sa province at don nalang mag study pero ayaw nya.
Any word of wisdom from you all po 🥹
