I met my AP after 90 days here on Reddit. Here are the things I learned:
A huge part of finding an AP will always come down to luck. You could comment within 10 seconds of a post and still not get a reply, or you could comment on a 10-day-old post and get a response.
Put in some effort when replying to ads. Personalize your responses instead of copying and pasting generic replies.
Ghosting is an inevitable part of this process. Even if things seem to go well, it can still happen. Be mentally prepared for it.
Use eye-catching headlines for your ads. Write your ads in bullet points; this format tends to work well in my experience. You can divide your ad into two sections: "Things About Me" and "Things I Am Looking For."
Patience is key, but also be prepared for the possibility that you may never succeed.
I know this sounds ironic, but try to be as honest as possible in your ads. Avoid exaggeration.
I've noticed that replying to comments on posts in subreddits like r/AskRedditAfterDark can sometimes lead to good conversations.
The first hour of conversation with a potential partner (PAP) will likely be the deciding factor. If you can hold their attention during this time, your chances of success will significantly improve.
Be ready with various social media apps like Telegram, Snapchat, Discord, etc. Once you're moving off Reddit, you'll want to be prepared.
Lastly, if you find your AP, make sure to set clear expectations and boundaries, and discuss OPSEC (operational security). These aspects are crucial, in my opinion.
