Slow morning at work today, so it's left me with a lot of time to spin around on my chair, mindlessly check my work email (most of its spam, let's be real) and ponder about how we're all living on a giant rock slowly spiralling in an empty void to our inevitable demise only to amount to nothing.
Catostrophising aside, I've been reflecting on my recent attempts at finding oAPs/LDAPs/yourchoiceofacronymAP on reddit. While I have made some genuinely lovely connections, they mostly peter out due to the difficulties with time zones. Usually my conversations make it as far as me reading their posts and "PST time zone only". As for looking at pAPs, I'm not particularly interested in ruining my career and life by shitting where I eat.
So for my fellow non-Americans, how successful have you been at finding and maintaining an AP, long distance or otherwise?
And for the Americans in the crowd (still love you guys), have any of you successfully had a long term oAP/LDAP? How big of a barrier is time zone to you?
