I recently added an additional Router to my Internet set up, so I could add a PiHole to it without forcing the rest of my household to also use it, as well as improve the wireless connection between my Computer and my HMD. Now, I knew from the onset that my existing server wouldn't just connect automagically after the new Router was set up.
After finding various guides and trying everything they suggested, I'm still stuck saying my external facing IP Address is closed on ports 25565 and 19132 (and all ports for that matter). I can't figure out what else to do.
So far, I have done the following:
- Forwarded ports 25565 and 19132 on my dd-wrt Netgear R7000 router for my Internal IP Address
(I have tried all 3 Port options it provides, Port Forwarding, Port Triggering, and Port Range Forwarding) - Forwarded ports 25565 and 19132 on my Xfinity xFi Modem for my Router
- Tried adding Inbound and Outbound exceptions in Windows Firewall Advanced Settings for 25565 and 19132 (though I removed them recently as I did not have to do this prior to getting my personal Router)
- Tried Disabling the use of the PiHole's DNS (and reenabled it when that did nothing)
- Tried rebooting all devices in the chain
- Tried using my vEthernet Internal IP instead of my non-v Ethernet Internal IP
A few extra details:
Upon pre-searching this Sub Reddit to see if similar issues were resolved, I found one post wherein the solution was to convert the second Router to an Access Point, as opposed to allowing it offer different 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands with unique security credentials than the Modem it is hooked up to. This completely defeats the purpose of me even using the Second Router in the first place, so we can already throw that one out and move on to other solutions.
Additionally, my External IP Address did not change when I set up the new Router. I expected it to, but it did not. Not sure if that means anything important.
Anyways, thanks in advance and have a great day!
