Post Body

Hi there! I don't know about you, but employment and job seeking have been kind of the bane of my existence in life, like forever. I've recently decided to try and rethink the whole thing for myself now that I know I have ADHD, and see if I can find something that fits my strengths and accommodates my needs better. I'm a middle aged woman who grew up working class, and between the low self esteem, etc that I got from having undiagnosed ADHD, I've also never had anyone to help me with career guidance.

The only time I've been really comfortable in a job was when I was teaching adjunct courses at the university at which I was seeking a PhD, but decided that wasn't the right thing for me for irrelevant reasons. Most of my job experience has been in some kind of administrative role or has involved a lot of administrative skills. I can do these things when I work hard, but I'm realizing they're also things I struggle with a lot, so inevitably I feel incompetent and worthless and/or things happen that make the job no longer work for me.

I've frequently thought if I could just have someone who could help me with all the 'finding the right job' and 'applying for it' parts that I think I could kill it - I certainly did really well in school, where I feel competent.

Anyway, I've been working on trying to address my root insecurities and work through some of those and try to get creative about my career. I'm open to doing new training if I have to, but I just want something that doesn't feel like I'm constantly struggling with.

As part of this search, I found this website: https://www.mentra.me/
I tried googling the subreddit here to see if anyone had talked about it before and there wasn't a discussion, so I was just wondering, has anyone heard of this or tried it? If so, what was your experience like?

If you have any advice and/or want a mentee, I would appreciate any and all help. I honestly don't know what job I'm looking for (this is my eternal problem), but I DO have a good idea of my strengths and weaknesses, and what kinds of tasks/work environment, etc I'm looking for. I just don't know how to get from that to a list of jobs that have those qualities.

Anyway, that's why this website sounded appealing to me, I'd love to hear if anyone has feedback to share. Feel free to reply here or DM if that's more appropriate. Thanks for taking the time to read this - I would love to hear from you.
