Signs that were ignored?

I was diagnosed with ADHD a few months ago (not taking meds at the moment - trying to work through things without them). But I was just thinking about how when I was younger (I'm 34), teachers would take about how well behaved I was but I would lack focus. It was never "Your daughter is having issues with focusing and we think something is going on" it was always "Your daughter daydreams a lot and lacks focus, she need to work on that and pay attention more". It made me think if someone had really looked deeper I could have been diagnosed a lot sooner.

Has anyone had others point out signs of ADHD in the past before being diagnosed but they were ignored or dismissed?
