My dears, I am by no means an expert, but one thing that has helped me so much is simplifying, and simplifying radically. There are so many things we’re expected to do and have that really aren’t necessary. The two things that come to mind most readily are showers and laundry. Many people with adhd struggle with self care tasks like showering, and if thats you, just shower less. Its actually not good for your skin to shower daily. If you haven’t been working in the dirt, you’re probably fine. Personally, I do a pampering bath once a week and I make it fun so I want to do it, and the rest of the week I use baby wipes if I stink. And my skin feels great. I also shaved my head so I don’t have to worry about hair care at all. With laundry, washing your clothes actually wears them out, so if they don’t stink you don’t need to wash them. You should spot clean if you get something on them most of the time. I also, in addition to rewearing clothes, have paired my wardrobe down to only the things I love and wear all the time, so there’s plenty of room in my dresser now, which means I don’t even fold anymore, I just only have non-wrinkly clothing and i toss it in the correct drawer. It makes my twice a month laundry days so much easier. I know some of this is would be extreme for a lot of people, but it’s really helped me make more room in my life for the things I love and reduced the stress of things I have a hard time doing. And also, it doesn’t have to be permanent. If you’re in a place in your life you feel overwhelmed, simplify. If you can eventually handle more, add. Just do whats best for you.
