Hi! I'm new here. So I recently had an appointment with a new doctor and she is positive that I have ADHD. However, she is unsure if my inattentiveness is due to depression or actual ADHD. So, she gave me wellbutrin.
The problem here is I did research on the medication and wellbutrin is an antidepressant but it can also treat ADHD symptoms (as well as helps those quit smoking but I don't have that problem lol.) Now I'm overthinking about what wellbutrin actually does...
So, those who are currently/have taken wellbutrin, how has it been for you? Has it made a difference in your mood as well as improving your ADHD symptoms?
Side note: my doctor gave me wellbutrin because her thought process was that she did not want to jump right onto a stimulant. I guess she also wanted to kill two birds with one stone by treating both my depression and ADHD symptoms. I am also on prozac so she believed that the mix of wellbutrin and prozac would be beneficial to me.
QUICK PSA:
STARTING WELLBUTRIN MIGHT MESS WITH YOUR PERIOD.
Nobody told me and I was PANICKING when my period was late for the first time in over a decade. It eventually started exactly on the day I ran my first ever half marathon. because of course lol
ETA: I also experienced delayed onset urticaria from starting buproprion. It‘s rare (1-2%), but if you experience itchy hives 2-4 weeks after starting wellbutrin, there might be a causative connection. Talk to your MD and look into taking otc antihistamines to survive the itchiness.
Reading this is honestly a relief.
Life‘s just been passing me by these last few months. Thinking that getting off Wellbutrin might alleviate that gives me a bit of hope.
I‘m currently tapering off it. I‘m also not sure if/what it did, but have been feeling incredibly flat. Stable, but also like.. nothing really matters and I‘m ok just staying home and letting the days pass by I guess. Not sure if it‘s the Wellbutrin, but I wonder if maybe it takes that bit of anxiety away that usually gets me to do stuff

Keep hanging in there! I know the frustration, currently also trial and erroring my way through it all.
Silver lining for you (maybe): stimulants work incredibly fast and you will get clarity soon.
