Iāve recently been diagnosed with adhd (very jarring) and Iām struggling to come to terms with it. Iām currently reading a book my psychologist recommended called āthe year I met my brainā -good read btw- by Matilda Boseley and there parts of it I really relate to and can recognise in my life experiences, but she also discusses things that seem somewhat fundamental to an adhd neurodivergent mind (at least to my very underdeveloped knowledge - please correct me if this assumption is biased somehow) such as a higher tendency to be impulsive.
Through this book I can now recognise the differences of ADHD presentation in men and women and understand how my experience would be different to what society has taught me ADHD looks like. Because in all honesty, you say ADHD I think of a loud, obnoxious, fidgety kid who in my mind was always a boy š¤·š½āāļø I donāt mean to but I had no idea thereās other ways ADHD can present ESPECIALLY in women. So Iām questioning what are somethings that I do that I might not even realise have anything to do with my ADHD because I didnāt realise that I could even BE adhd.
So to everyone out there, what are some of your āimpulsive tendenciesā and how did you recognise them to be a symptom of your neurodivergent mind?
