There is a point where not deleting excess, photos, videos and voice memos bites you in the ass.

I have found photography, voice memo journaling and video journal’s incredibly helpful as tools to manage the balance between mental health and mental illness.

I have been documenting my mental health healing journey over the last couple years, and have been taking a lot of pictures for about 6 years.

An important fact that may influence my aptitude for managing digital anything, is that I am in the generation x. The only generation that has feet firmly planted on growing up with analog systems and have lived the evolution of technology. This is also a generation that grew up with mental health being highly stigmatized as in not discussed at all, and girls/ women didn’t get acknowledged as being neurodivergent. Neurodivergent was not a word in anyones vocabulary.

I feel how much both not growing up with technology or an understanding of my brain has impacted my modern life negatively.

There is a societal assumption of having a baseline of technology understanding that frankly I don’t have. A familiarity that isn’t there.

Some of the things that are in my way are file systems, file maintenance, storage, and just organization of digital files.

I feel so overwhelmed of how to even begin cleaning up and organizing years of photos, videos and pictures.

If anyone has any words of encouragement or advice Id be very appreciative.

My storage is full and I cant do anything until I roll up my sleeves and learn how to clean it up, organize and maintain it.
