Question for those with siblings

Post Body

Hello all, I hope you are healthy and well or on the way! I was wondering, because I have dealt with this issue. For those who are a sibling or had a sibling that is an addict, did your parents spend much more energy/time/money on the addict, than the others? How did this make you and your sibling feel at the time, and what would do if you were a parent? I was listening to Brandon Novak’s story, he mentioned his mother sold houses to put him in rehab and what not. He also mentioned he had a brother who worked for a living. All I could think of is poor brother…your mom is selling their home to help your brother while I’m sure you haven’t gotten half that care. Thoughts?

I think that’s really cool of your parents to make sure everyone felt equal love. The feeling of neglect pushes many to addiction, so only caring for the worst one would be counter intuitive.

Dude exactly the same! I had to be so independent, had a ton of anger issues and eventually addictions. My brother was just lazy tho, maybe a bit of autism too. I’m so sorry to hear about your brother man, thank you for sharing.
