I have been working in academia in the arts for the last 5 years and I have a Ph.D. in the arts as well. I've taken as far as calc III and Stats II in college, but otherwise have no formal math/finance background.
On these types of boards, the standard line is "pass some exams, network well, and you have a shot." While I understand that it is certainly possible, how many people without actuary/stats/programming/math backgrounds do you actually work with? That is, does the standard line match up with reality?
