I've been with my partner now for almost 3 years. It has been a "nice" relationship as we both got quite smitten with each other when we first met and have what I consider a smooth relationship since then. We've never gotten into any fights or arguments, just a little frustration once in a blue moon and we understand each other quite well. She's one of the most sweetest and loving humans I have ever met, so what's the problem? Every few months we hit these rough patches where either I, or both of us feel off and contemplate whether the relationship will last or something will come up that would jeopardize our relationship. I have never really felt "the spark" nor have I ever gotten butterflies from her like I have in the past with others.
Everything on the surface seems like the ideal relationship, but something feels like it's missing. I care about her and lover her, but should a truly healthy relationship still have this underlying feeling of doubt? We would always talking about it and cry about it and we've always made it through our rough patches, but is this sustainable? Have any of you guys been in a relationship like this and have it work out?
