as i scroll through the internet, and exist as a human being in this world, the more i talk to men, whether that’s because of work or just an acquaintance, it truly blows my mind that some men say that they’re straight. how can anyone think of women as just sexual objects? genuinely, i can not understand. i mean, i can but i also cannot. it’s always something sexual, there’s so much more to women than just our bodies. i can’t even comprehend how anyone can say that they’re in love with women but degrade and abuse them. yes, resentment, societal pressures, and so much more play apart in this but if you care about someone that much, how are you not motivated to change those ways of thinking (if you have access to such information). is that not apart of true love? i find that to be the bare minimum.
i’ve met some of the worst women i hope no one will ever have to encounter but also some the most genuine and beautiful women i’ve ever encountered. even after that, i still love women, i still have utter respect for those who deserve it, etc.
the way certain women articulate themselves, carry themselves with confidence, it’s so- i shut down. even just the little things- i can’t even explain what it’s truly like to love women. i don’t think i’ll ever be able to fully articulate what it’s like but ig that’s the magical part of being a lesbian, lol. omgoodness and when they’re passionate about a topic or hobby they’re invested in, UGHHHH. seeing how excited and ahhh, they get. i love it.
THIS IS just a rant and i understand that it goes so much deeper than this. yes, i understand that not all men are like this, hence the word “SOME.”
Check out the book The Invention of Heterosexuality by Jonathan Ned Katz. The premise is that the idea that men and women should actually like each other is a relatively new idea, and that, across cultures where communities were wealthy enough, gender segregated and homosocial relationships were the norm.
