So I think Nesta is one of (if not is) the most complicated characters in the ACOTAR series. Nesta obviously has flaws, she was raised by an unideal (maybe abusive) mother who pushed her to be a younger version of herself making sure that she understands that she needs to marry a man of great wealth and prestige.
I think all the ideas that were embedded into Nestaâs mind by her mother is the root problem that caused Nesta to be angry and cold towards her family when they lost their wealth. Everything that she is or supposed to be was taken from her. She took her anger out on her father and Feyre because they can take it, but Elain was always perceived as âweakâ so instead of being angry at her she became protective of her.
Yes at that point Nesta probably needed some therapy, she doesnât know how to deal with emotions her defence mechanism is being bitchy and shutting everyone out.
She still tries to find a husband of decent social class and ends up getting assaulted in the process.
She is thrown into a life she never asked for and cannot do anything about it. She feels outcasted by the inner circle because she thinks that everything she has done is unforgivable. She loathes herself so much, she believes that she doesnât deserve to be loved.
And she has her good moments, she tells Feyre to go back to Tamlin (back when Feyre was still in love with him), she fights for the humans, shares her story in Prythian (which is something she was very uncomfortable doing), expresses remorse towards her actions in the past. And fights against Hybern side by side with the people that donât like her very much.
So she needs help (she got help). But I donât think she is a bad person.
