This series is anticlimactic.
Post Body

So I finished the books. I’ve mulled over it for a bit and have been lurking in other discussions and I have learned a few things. Or rather my eyes have opened lol.

The main thing is that the books are anticlimactic. There are a lot of instances where something big is revealed but nothing comes of it? Or something that is crucial to the plot but is halfway done.

An example being Nesta is or was an alcoholic and had a substance issue as far as using sex and drink as a coping mechanism. Another example which makes the book in its entirety a bit disappointing is how the conflict vanished so easily in ACOWAR.

ACOWAR has many instances where a turning point occurs, most of the time being another point of conflict only for it to have no effect later. The blood rubies for one. Despite their being a bigger force at play, I wish the rubies played a deeper role into the relationship between the NC and the SC. Another is how death is nonexistent. The only person who dies was Papa Acheron and as sad as I was when it occurred, I wish there was more death. (That sounds so morbid.)

Rhys died only to come back just as Feyre did which was anticlimactic. He can come back. Fine but why does he have to return like she did? And why if slivers of power was given to him from the other courts and he’s the most powerful HL (or so they say) didn’t he get any of their power? Or a piece? Not only did Amren die and the cauldron was destroyed, she betrayed Feyre. Tell me why I thought Amren was the mastermind the entire time only for her to be like, ‘oh jk I’m here to help but I couldn’t tell you the plan.’ facepalm

Tamlin was written off to be a bad character but he played very little of a role in ACOWAR. And in ACOMAF. I wish he really went there if he was going to go there bc technically they are enemies. I don’t recall any goodwill between the SC and the NC. Or any courts for that matter except winter and now summer.

I wish there was more drama between the courts as a whole instead of mostly neutral coexistence. Like if you’re going to write conflict and there to be unrest between others courts (may as well be realms/cities/states/whatever you wanna call it) then do so and do it wellllll.

Side note: ACOWAR should have been two books. Two fatty ones too lol.

SF is focused on Nesta and Cassian. I wish SJM went deeper into her trauma. For both of them. It seemed like Nesta was the focus but Cassian has trauma too. And since he’s her mate, I feel that should have been a main point. If you think about it, she went from having sex with strangers to having sex with her mate Cass and initially was set upon using him to sate her powers and trauma and blah blah blah. Basically to make her feel better about herself. The girl group was good. Great actually. I love how women with bad experiences came together and became a unit. It was nicely done and actually preferable to Feyre’s ‘family’. (She gets on my nerves when she mentions that over and over).

Also, I wish there was more confrontational dialogue between the sisters in SF but even in the other books too. There’s so much between them that we don’t know and a lot of unknown conflict that has been festering for who knows how long. The initial fight in SF between Feyre then later with Elain was amazing. I wish we had more of that. I also wish Feyre got upset. Mainly with her siblings but in general too. She’s way too forgiving.

I think that’s all… hopefully my opinion change when I reread but for right now this is where I’m at.
