I can't believe this happened and that I'm actually writing this now. I've been on this reddit once or twice but never engaged in any discussion and I really thought that a lot of people could benefit from my story today.
I've had acne for over 2 years now, I'd say quite a severe acne all over my face, shoulder and top of my back. I never rushed or hardly try to find a fix as I was more in acceptance about it.
I'd say I had an oily skin type and (my guess) what looks like hormonal acne.
Though, over those two years I've tried serval things (but never really consistantly), including :
- Antibiotics (but stopped because of the sun incompatibility)
- Reviewing my entire food habits
- Stopping alcohol and sugar (definitely helped)
- Using DIM and Zinc
- Salicylic acid
- Using moisturizer
- Using cleanser
And then, I randomly found and watched this TED Talk video (link in comments) about fasting. I highly recommend you to watch it even though it's not really related to acne (it has English subs)
The message she carries really resonated with me and as the big curious I am I thought I'll give it a try.
I'm now doing intermittent fasting for two weeks, and this has fully solved my acne. The even funnier thing is that I thought I'll give it a try when I'll be in the countryside because it's socially easier to develop the habit, and I spend the last two weeks also doing dirty work outside, barely washing myself (oops) and being under the sun the entire day, which usually triggers my acne a lot.
More precisely, I've been doing: - Intermittent fasting (eating only between 2pm and 7pm) - One full 24h fasting per week (from 12pm to 12pm)
I really did not expect such results, and even less in such a small timeframe.
I hope this can work for some of you who want to give it a try - which I recommend anyway because I also brought other greats benefits. If you do try it out, let me know how much it worked for you, I'm really curious!
