So I started a new diet on Sunday to mainly go alongside my gym routine and build muscle. It's mainly organic/clean/natural food but high calories (aiming for 350K a day)
Before starting I really didn't know how much this was going to flair up my GERD because it's a lot of food. Although I struggle to eat in the mornings I made sure that a lot of my new meal plan was eaten in the morning to try and avoid my problems causing me pain in my sleep.
Well, despite eating more food than I used to, my heartburn at the moment is minimal. It has made me really look at processed foods and how much it was causing my symptoms (alongside my posture). I've also recently been prescribed PPIs which I'm yet to start my first course. As someone who has been suffering from this over the past 1-2 years I am so relieved that I finally may have a cure.
I just wanted to share in case anyone else hadn't tried changing the food they eat in this way (appreciate food is a pretty basic starting point... I've tried avoiding certain foods previously). Switching to clean foods has helped me massively and I've suffered for so long!
It's also made me so happy because I can enjoy my life a little more! I had a glass of prosecco yesterday in the evening and today went out for a meal and had a heineken alongside a lamb shank at a restaurant. This would have guaranteed to have ruined me not too long ago but I've been able to do these things with only a slight sensation of acid.
I've been trying things for over a year and I'm so glad that I may have found a solution! Also, it's going to be easy to stick to this diet if it means I don't have acid reflux.
