This is being done in Omniverse which might also fit into his vision of his dream software. Any application that supports Omniverse can have it's data show up in Omniverse and be used any any other application that supports Omniverse. There's no export/import process, it just happens. Change a texture in one program and have it instantly show these changes on a model that uses that texture in another program. Omniverse is also a program itself, not just a connector between applications.
