Hey r/accord. I want to first say I did notice the thread from a few months ago with a similar question. It's just the previous thread seemed to be specific for the non-touring model.

I'm looking to upgrade the terrible infotainment system in the 2017 accord touring and I'm just wondering why the existing dash and harness kits won't work? Both the exgp kit as well as the Metra kit seem to exclude the touring model. The exgp kit seems to indicate that it doesn't work for any navigation enabled model. That being said, the dash component itself seems to be the same in both.

Are there any options for upgrading the head unit in this vehicle or am I just out of luck?

For context: The infotainment system is hugely buggy especially with CarPlay. There are numerous freezes where I have to pull over and restart the car in order to fix things. Sometimes I won't necessarily get the freeze but I have to unplug my phone and plug it back in to get CarPlay to work again while driving. I have gotten the unit replaced under warranty once already and nothing seems to have been fixed.
