tips on keeping latency down?

I run Live 10 on a MacBook Pro 2017 and I keep running into Latency issues. It was at about 200 ms (in/out combined) which was really noticeable and I managed to get it down under 100ms. Eventually after tweaking even more I got it under 10, but at that point the CPU load was completely shot. All Iām running is Omnisphere on a few midi tracks along with a few audio clips.
TLDR: anyone have any rule of thumb tips to keeping latency AND cpu load down?
