So, I am conducting a study on the forecasting abilities of ordinary people with no formal meteorological training (you can still have an interest in weather). The study will consist of making an educated guess about weather in the future.
About the researchers- I am an Associate Scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder that works in aviation weather. More specifically, I work in winter weather and aircraft icing. A colleague and I am conducting this study and will be presenting (and possibly publishing) the results.
Here are some more details-
This study will consist of making approximately 26 educated guesses about Denver's future weather at various times during the year. It will require approximately five minutes of your schedule once every two weeks. Participants must have lived in Colorado for at least five years.
You will be asked to guess-cast high and low temperatures, sunny vs. partly cloudy vs. cloudy, and whether or not there will be precipitation. Please refrain from using any forecasting tools when making guesses. We want these to be only guesses with no outside information from any weather sources. Individual scores for guess-casting are not being assigned. The forecasts will be done online and will look similar to the following forecast-
|| High- 76F || Low- 48F || Cloudy || Precip- Yes ||
Contact during the forecasting period will be made through email and Facebook group (optional) with a possible Reddit update or two.
Participants will have names included in results and possibly a published paper.
