Before continuing, - I'll just get out of the way that - yes, I recognize the value in defining what AnCap is and isn't as to promote clarity and lessen confusion.
One of the areas in which I see the AnCap community going wrong is in the "pursuit" of positions. The abortion debate is a 'classic' example of this. Originally, AnCap communities treated that issue as one to be explored and discussed peacefully, and generally speaking it was treated as something AnCap concepts didn't dictate a specific position on.
At some point, all hell broke loose, and suddenly the debate was so angry and torn that support for position-X or even not quite buying into position-Y was treated as "unacceptable." Perhaps given enough time, I suspect that AnCap community could have developed a more mature understanding of the issue of abortion.
disclaimer: Not trying to make this an abortion discussion.
There seemed to be a "tipping point" right around that time. Since that point, it was as if most everything needed an "AnCap position."
