model-amn, wearing a KAP T-shirt, has flown to Melbourne to support the KAP in one of their weakest states. The first house is of a man with a "Josh Frydenberg for Kooyong" placard, inexplicably.
"Hi, my name's model-amn, would you be interested in speaking about the Katter's Austra..."
"Nope, I'm a Liberal through and through."
"Well, are you sure you wouldn't be interested about speaking about the Pacific Union elections?"
"Wait, there are elections? I haven't been invited to any Liberal fundraisers or events."
"Do you want to Google it?"
The man does. He is shocked.
"Have the Liberals not campaigned?"
"No," model-amn nods her head, "they haven't."
"What's all this about a Pacific Union, anyway?"
"Oh, it's like a Pacific EU. I honestly don't see why Australia is in it, it should only be for the islands of the Pacific, not Australia- keep your money and invest it in your people, leave Pasifika to their own affairs."
The man is a bit confused, but likes the cut of model-amn's jib.
"I think you make a very good point. So, you'd withdraw Australia?"
"Yes, I would. While I'm not from Australia, I don't think they should be in the union and my colleagues in the KAP think the same. The KAP will be able to help get this done by working with the Pacific Grouping, a larger grouping of like-minded parties. The KAP will be able to get things done."
The man takes a pamphlet, and model-amn moves on to the next house, a leafy family home. A middle-aged woman answers.
"Hi, my name's model-amn, could you take a minute to speak about the KAP?"
"Oh, I usually vote Greens, but yeah, sure, make it quick."
"Well, the KAP is fighting for the Australian people, against foreign land ownership and for Australian workers. We want your vote in the Pacific Union elections to help us continue to put Australian interests first by getting us out and sending a message you've had enough, and you want a politician who will put Australia first."
"Oh, that sounds good. What's this Pacific Union all about, anyway?"
"Well, we're not really sure, which is why this election is so crucial. KAP has teamed up with Pacific parties- like the one I'm from- who want to carve a strong, Pacific-focused union, ensuring that it represents their Pacific communities, instead of Australia, which we see as unnecessary. We're natural allies with the KAP, because we believe Australia should pave its own way."
"You know, I think I agree. I'll vote for you."
