Adorned with New Zealand First and Pacific Grouping banners, Shane Jones, New Zealand First list MP based in Northland, is holding a barbecue, selling sausages and hot dog rolls to the public as part of a New Zealand First event.
"Kia ora, Whangarei!
As you may know, the elections for the Pacific Union are coming up, and New Zealand First are the best choice for you. New Zealand First fights for New Zealand, and in this Pacific Union, that is what we aim to do.
The Pacific Union will be mutually beneficially. We will be able to work with our Pacific and Polynesian partners to strengthen our ties with them, helping stop the spreading influence of China- while also ensuring that money is spent on the infrastructure projects Northland so sorely needs.
However, if I may admit, I'm not certain that this is what will happen. The establishment is all campaigning on giving Nadi a new hospital or building new roads in Samoa, because they think this union is like a charity fund, where the big guys throw a penny to the Pacific.
New Zealand First and the Pacific Grouping will hold them to account. We will ensure the interests of New Zealand are put first and properly put first. A vote for New Zealand First is exactly that.
We will work with our Pacific Grouping colleagues, all fighters for their respective regions, to form a bloc and ensure that all of the Pacific Union is recieving the attention it deserves, from as far north as the Niuas to as far south as Stewart Island.
Vote New Zealand First for a strong voice in the Pacific Union."
