That this Parliament-
Recognises that 6 Australians take their life everyday.
Recognises that 30 Australians attempt to take their life everyday.
Recognises that 45% of Australians will experience a mental illness throughout their life, and 54% of them don't seek help.
Recognises that the rate mental illness is particularly high amongst youth.
Recognises there is a stigma attached to mental illness, and for seeking help regarding mental health.
Commits to combating the stigma of mental illness.
Recognises that Mental Health issues have significant impact on Australians and South Australians.
Recognise that Mental Health services are underfunded in Australia and South Australia.
Commit to increasing funding to Mental Health services in South Australia.
Call on the federal government to increase funding.
Continue to support and endorse the work of mental health organisations such as Beyond Blue, The Black Dog Institute, LifeLine and Headspace.
Encourages all Australians who are suffering from a mental illness, because you aren't alone, and it's ok.
This motion is being read in the Legislative Council. Members of the public may debate. This motion was written by Hon. later_slater1407 MP, and sponsored by Premier MerrilyPutrid MLC, Minister for Health and Wellbeing. The period for debating will expire on 10 March 2020, 12:00PM.
