I have all the files for Zoo Tycoon 2 Ultimate Collection on my macbook. I tried using wine but I have never used it before.

Trying to use PlayOnMac now, still running into issues. I get the install screen but clicking install I get the error "There is no windows program configured to open this type of file"

Trying to run it just with wine the installer runs a bit farther but then gets error "-1603 Fatal error during installation"

Anyone actually got this to work and have any advice? I have seen online apparently it is possible. Going ti take a break and try and install ZT 1 and see how far I get with that lol

I got it to work using parallels. If anyone else is trying to run it on mac and having issues, here is what I did:

I got the Zoo Tycoon files from myabandonware for ZT2 Ultimate Collection. Once you have those and have downloaded and installed the previous files from the guide (7zip and directx) onto parallels:

I tried several things to mount the bin file like the guide said, nothing worked.

What I did instead: Open the .bin files. To do this, retype the extension from .bin to .zip. Changes it into a zip file that can then be unzipped using whatever you want, i used winRAR.

the download should have 3 folders, one for each disk, each with bin files. Unzip them all. From the disk 1 folder run either setup.exe or autorun.exe i think it's the autorun. The game's installer will open. At some point it will require files. Just click away from the installer these files are in the disk 2 and 3 folders so just copy them into the disk 1 folder and press retry on the installer to continue the install process

After the installer is finished dont click start game exit out. At this point replace the zt.exe file with the "no CD" version included in the other file from the abandonware download.

Should work from here! I might have had to mess with the compatibility settings but I dont remember.
