For those of you that keep notebook Zettelkastens, how do you deal with linearity?

Post Body

I've been thinking about switching to keep a notebook rather than notecards (easier to store and carry), but my main issue is that I read and take notes on multiple things at a time. Having a "rigid" format like a notebook has been tough for me in the past because I can never tell how many pages I might need for a reading and worry that I might mess up and end up with either a lot of dead space between sources or not enough room and have to awkwardly sandwich one reading between two halves of another. The biggest draw of notecards has been able to juggle multiple books/projects I'm working on while avoiding these problems

I've thought about just doing looseleaf paper and putting them into a binder, but interested in hearing any other ideas/suggestions
