I've started listening to an audiobook called Garbology and it's spurring me to think more in depth about what I'm putting out into the world. I think I'm going to be taking steps to go zero waste!
I'm already vegetarian and generally cook fresh meals (shopping cart mainly is veggies and fruits with few cans or plastic containers). There is a store in my city that I can bring my own containers for bulk, but I'm debating if it's worth the driving. I already will buy bulk from my current store and recycle the containers. Biggest issue right now is almond milk that we get at Costco. I've considered making my own but almonds are already so bad for the planet. Maybe oat milk? I've never made it and don't have a Vitamix so it wouldn't be as smooth as I'd like.
My partner and I are both women and are cutting back on sanitary waste already. We're switching to cloth pads currently and are happy to do so! Showering wise I probably will stick to the products on using for now since my skin and hair is so sensitive. Clothing wise I tend to thrift everything and will be teaching myself to sew soon. I already crochet and plan to make some produce bags to go with our reusable bags.
We're not new to thrifting and already have glass containers for storage and whatnot that we've gotten at Goodwill's and the like. I'll probably make a trip soon to get more containers if I decide to do more bulk.
Anyways! Any tips are always welcome! Glad to be here and excited to start doing my part.
