Hi sustainable friends! So I am new to the whole low/zero waste lifestyle. I am also a senior in college trying to buy items for my future house so I would like to start out with more sustainable items. So far I have already ordered a few things to help me on my way:
- A safety razor so no more disposable ones!
- Silicone cupcake and round cake pans, so no need for oil or parchment paper
- Silpats
- Cheesecloth bags for produce
- Silicone reusable food bags (like Ziplocs)
- Bamboo travel cutlery
- I already have insulated metal cups
- I make soap, so I will be trying to make shampoo bars
- Soon I will get reusable grocery bags
- Recently I have been buying ebooks over physical books
- I use a water filter instead of bottled water
I of course aim to work with what I already have, so I reuse the larger plastic yogurt containers. I also save jars that foods come in, and I try to buy things with minimal packaging. Do you all have any tips of how I can continue to reduce my waste production? Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Edited to add: I try to find things secondhand before buying them new. Also the things I am buying are generally my first of that item, for example, I did not get rid of a metal cupcake pan to get a silicone cupcake pan, I just didn't have one to begin with.

I LOVE my steel straws. Big one for smoothies, regular size for drinking and keep two in the car for me and my other half.
Steel straws are also hold less bacteria than other reusable straws.
