Post Body

I'm currently in my senior year of college, and I am starting to fear that my first (and only known) case of COVID in July has left me with long COVID. I managed to not get sick between then and the beginning of this month, but I've ended up with the seemingly classic compromised immune system issue of having a mild cold for over three weeks. Almost nobody at my school masks, so I only get the one-way protection from my own mask. I'm honestly terrified of catching COVID again, but I feel like I have no true autonomy in the situation.

Two out of three of my classes are recorded every time they meet, but only one allows you to watch from home rather than attend in person. The other one requires "participation" which essentially means attendance, but just as a workaround because my college doesn't allow classes to grade for attendance. My third class is not recorded at all, and there are no possible alternatives I can take, but it's at least in a classroom with decent ventilation and less people, therefore hopefully less people with COVID. I can't afford a FLO mask right now and DEFINITELY can't afford one of those little UVC light things, so I don't feel like I have many extra things I can do right now besides wearing my N95. I've looked into transferring to an online institution, but due to differences in programs, I'd likely have to take at least another year to finish my degree, which is not feasible financially nor could I handle it on a personal level. I worked so hard to get into a well-respected, rigorous school, and giving that up due to the actions (or inaction) of other people would be devastating.

I already qualify for disability accommodations due to mental health challenges and ADHD, but have not sought them out previously for whatever dumb reason. That said, I don't know if those things would be enough to get approved to do the majority of my schooling from home. I'm scared to go into a medical setting right now due to the COVID surge, and even if I did go, it's not likely anything would be confirmed in a timely manner. I feel stuck.

So anyway, I'm wondering if any of y'all have found good ways to get your professors to acommodate your needs/desire to be COVID safe. I feel so doomy right now and my mental health is suffering. Any advice is really appreciated.
