G14 slow charging issue - laptop is defaulting to USB-C power delivery when AC is connected

Just what it says up above. I have a G14 2021 that charges just fine when the AC adapter is connected.
The problem comes when I plug in an external monitor via USB-C. This monitor has USB-C power delivery. When I plug it into the USB-C port on the left side of the G14 windows sends me an error message and says that a slow charger is connected.
Has anyone else had this issue, or was I unlucky enough to get a defective unit? If you have had this issue, is there any fix for it? Thanks!
