Using the default fan curve, at any temp above around 50C (which the card will easily reach after extended idle) the fans will cycle on and off repeatedly. The sound is loud enough to hear in a quiet room and since its repetitive in nature it is quite annoying.
Unless you set a custom fan curve where the minimum speed is 40% or higher, this ramping on and off will get more frequent and louder until the card hits a high enough temperature that the fan speed naturally goes above 40%. As far as I can tell, the fans are using a voltage curve instead of PWM so any speed below 40% duty cycle will result in this on/off behavior instead of just a smooth slower speed.
40% speed is tolerable but audible and there are some annoying harmonic vibrations from time to time. There are no custom BIOS available yet since this card is very new so I'm kinda stuck with this behavior. Any chance of a fix for this?
