So... the game already has like zero things to do if you beat the solo missions, leaving Ranked Matches as the main focus currently. Rewards for ranking up in Ranked Matches are already pretty low as it is (especially given this game has thousands upon thousands of cards). Ranked matches are flooded with cheese decks taking full advantage of a loose banlist, making high level ranked matches a pain, meaning getting those last rewards are a pain.
So we climb the ladder, get as high rank as we can make it... to find out there isn’t a season reward for finishing a season, nor do you start next season at the lowest rank so that you can get the rewards again?
What’s the point of seasons then? If there isn’t a reward for playing a season, nor do we go back to the bottom to work up again next season, what’s the point of playing a season? How can this be sustainable? I know they plan to add events to the game soon(ish?)... but like with solo mode, once you complete an event, it’s back to a ranked matches that are honestly getting boring rapidly and have no real rewards to make it worthwhile in the long run. If we got all rewards from the lowest rank upwards each season, it would be somewhat worth playing the season, but as it stands now there really isn’t anything worth the time sink.
I understand that they want to make money, so they keep free currency low... but would it really kill their coffers to toss us a couple multis every few weeks for continuing to play the game? And how are they justifying such aggressive sales pushes already when the game has so little gameplay content?
I’m just ranting, had to get some of this off my chest. I understand that the game is still fresh, content WILL come. BUT, that said, this is a really poor start I feel. Solo mode doesn’t take super long to get through, and ranked matches are fun for a bit, but die off really quick. Without season prizes and/or a full season reset for you to earn all the rewards again, there just isn’t incentive to keep playing seasons. Not to mention what made Link Evolution such a great game was the ability to keep trying out new decks... can’t do that in this game because you gotta use all your resources to make the one or two decks you need to stick with, and then gems dry up because there aren’t season prizes or resets.
I worry because this game had a great launch, tons of people playing across all platforms... that isn’t going to continue if this stays their mindset moving forward. There is a difference between keeping currency scarce and making it purely pay to play. It’s 2022, tons of f2p gacha games have found good balances that keep players and make tons of money, which just makes this game look out of touch. Maybe events will be good enough to carry the game, but I hope the devs reconsider their approach before they sink this ship.
Rant over, lol
