I subscribe to YouTube music today to compare it to Spotify.
What listed below is based on my experience and this will serve as my suggestions for improvements to YouTube music.
What YouTube Music lacking is:
•It doesn't have a top charts for all countries that support YouTube Music.
•Youtube doesn't make it's own updated playlist (like let say, "uprising hip hop in NY" or whatever), in Spotify they have all the playlist that are being automatically updated even though that playlist is already saved in your Library. Which to be honest is really helpful in finding new music.
•UI is somewhat vanilla in Library tab, when compared to Apple music and Spotify those streaming apps UI are minimalist but well designed.
•just maybe, they can also add an AI assistant same as what Spotify did. It's Google in the first place and they are known to be well versed in AI.
Basically that's all, I really hope that they will update it much more to be much much better than Spotify or Apple Music.
