It may be in a much later season, but I feel like the cabin is inhabitable at some point.
Post Body

So, quick edit. I’m stupid and meant uninhabitable. And I’m 3 upvotes into this already. So, here we go.

It just seems to make sense. Five seasons of a set timeframe of 18 months with a ‘set’ amount of character so far (I hope for other survivors of previous accidents). They found the cabin pretty early on, and that’s a very huge part in survival. Remove shelter and you have some interesting events to write and ‘flesh’ out.

Maybe a lantern mysteriously is knocked over, maybe Javi is now a strange mute pyro, maybe Ben tries to kill them all. Or maybe a massive snowfall finishes off the cabin.

Either way, I really do feel like the cabin will no longer be much of a shelter eventually, and I’m certain that whatever destroys it will be another mystery of supernatural or rational freak occurrence.
