Post Body

So of the many heart wrenching, anxiety inducing moments in Friday’s episode the one that really got me was when Nat pulled Gilly out of her bowl and was gonna let her drown to death. In part because of the close up on Gilly’s cute little face and more importantly, because Nat is the emotional heart of the show so far.

She’s the only one we’ve met whose humanity seems intact after the woods, despite what she says to Lisa. So for her to deliberately kill Gilly would be a huge step toward the darkness. Now who knows, maybe I’ll eat these words later but thats the conclusion I’m landing on based on what we’ve seen so far.

Contrast her scene with Gilly to Shauna’s scene with Meatball Bro in the chop shop. Shauna’s reveling in the darkness, in the fear of the man’s eyes, in the memory of skinning one of her dead teammates she presumably hunted like an animal, the beads of sweat on her face and the way she licks her lips.

She almost looks aroused at the idea of blowing is brains out. She finds release in the act of killing, case in point the rabbit.

There’s something curdled about her soul that we haven’t seen, yet, in Nat. Which is why I love this freaking show!
