So I am sure there are a ton of these out there. Though I am going to shoot this one out anyway. I kind of wanted to get some peoples thoughts on it. Basically I am going break down what I think is actually happening from the scenes in ep4 from the tree of ages. Going into Sesshomaru walking the same path kirinmaru and the dream butterfly that is circling around Rin.
Sesshomaru walking the same path Kirinmaru: So I have been thinking about this. "Why would Sesshomaru be walking the same path as Kirinmaru? Well Kirinmaru is trying to degenerate time, so what would Sesshomaru gain from that? " The only thing I can think of is one thing, Rin. She is clearly still in the picture and Sesshomaru is still hanging about her. One of the things that is said in the original series is how Rin will die long before Sesshomaru does. So if time is degenerated, then Rin will not age. Meaning the two of them could spend forever together. I believe the title of that episode was Forever with Lord Sesshomaru. Even if Rin is not the mother, then there is another women Sesshomaru cares for who is human along with Rin. Either way, I can see why he would want time to degenerate. That way the human or humans he has come to care about so deeply do not just die. I mean what else does Sesshomaru have to gain from time being no more?
The dream butterfly that is circling around Rin: So a Dream butterfly clearly shown flying in circles around Rin tree in the scene. I believe this is the same butterfly that took Sestuna's dreams. I have no reason to believe otherwise. Obviously the whole theory hinges on this being the case. However, if it is, then it shows they where the ones behind taking Sestuna's memories. Which made me question "why would they take their own daughter's memories? or leave the butterfly that did take her memories alone?" Well I watched the episode again it is kind of answered that question for me. Setsuna repeats multiple times "I did not suffer because of it". I was thinking this may be the answer. After losing her sister and being left alone in the woods by herself, Setsuna must have been afraid, scared and missing the only person who was family to her. Having her memories taken away of Towa might have actually eased her suffering. I think maybe that is why Rin or Sesshomaru may have sent the butterfly. To help ease their daughters suffering.
