XMax V3 Pro dosing caps?

My friend/housemate and I are both MM patients, We have always used bongs but he coughs A LOT
He bought a XMax V3 Pro and he gets a better stone and better lung hit without coughing so much, So I have decided to buy one. Is it best to buy a 5 pack of dosing caps with a tube holder? And is it best to use the dosing caps all the time and remove the bottom mesh. Or are dosing caps only good for travelling?
