I’m in week 3 of a 14 week training plan for my first half marathon and I think I’m developing shin splints on my left leg. I’ve run 2 10ks and a handful of 5ks before. This is my first time dealing with this.
I’m not sure if I should attempt to train through them or not. My 14 week plan has runs 5 days a week (2 recovery, 2 hard/speed/interval and 1 long) and the 14 weeks go right up to the race - I don’t have any wiggle weeks to lose and still be able to follow the plan.
If I rest or drop weeks, how do I adapt the plan and make sure I’m ready for the race? I’ve never dealt with splints before and I don’t want to injure myself long term. I’m supposed to do one more interval run and a 5 mile long run this weekend. Any advice?
