Is $70 too much for a 5k?

Hi. I want to run a 5k in February. I’m pretty new to running but I’m up to the challenge. It’s $70 for registration, the tee and I think the medal as well. Is it typical for runs to be that pricey?

Race prices have gotten truly outrageous since for-profit companies have taken over race management. The tees and medals are just wasteful. They just end up in a box, until they're thrown away.
