What am I missing about the K-wing?

So I've just started playing and one of the ships I picked up was the K-wing, which seems really strong to me, can take a lot of hits, and a 360 degree turret weapon, and then you can slap on Miranda Doni, who is made for Twin Laser Turret, which seems to be a pretty popular upgrade.
So what am I missing? Is it just a cost thing?
