With the start of spooky season here I’ve decided that instead of starting my re watch of the whole series, I’m just going to watch my favourite episodes instead. For season one, “Darkness Falls” has a special place for me as one of my favourites because my dad was a forestry worker and encountered his fair share of (in his words) ‘eco freaks’. Logging of old growth and clear cuts were a hot topic then as it is still now. This episode really captures the divide between the different camps of ideas. “Save the forest” vs “log it, burn it, pave it” in the most basic terms. I’m also a vancouver local and often frequent the park they did a lot of filming in for this episode (Lighthouse Park). The cabin used still stands today.
