After several stand-alone episodes, we finally return once more to the alien conspiracy arch.

In Fallen Angel, a UFO crashes, Deep Throat shows up with intel, and Mulder goes rogue. Along the way, he meets a kindred spirit in Max, a NICAP member who is also investigating the crash, and might be an abductee.

A good many things are set up in this episode. Max is almost a prototype for The Lone Gunmen, Mulder’s disregard of protocol for the sake of truth is very much on display, and just where does Deep Throat fit in and what are his motivations?

Great episode. The show’s main arch is finally picking up steam and Mulder and Scully are finding their stride. Of note, The Predator is definitely an influence here.
