Back to the mythology and some character building for Mulder.
In Conduit, we learn more about the history of Mulder’s sister, Samantha, and how her disappearance fuels his obsession. He wants so badly to find out what happened to her, that at times he becomes blinded by it. Here Mulder associates the missing Ruby with what happened to Samantha, and he'll do anything to keep her family from going through the hell that he went through, a fact Scully has no problem bringing up to him.
Also, Scully is beginning to see what truly drives Mulder, and listening to his hypnosis tapes validates this.
It’s not a bad episode, but not one of the best either. I think it does a good job showing what it’s like for people who believe something strongly but are ridiculed for those beliefs. Something we all go through at some point.
Disturbing Moment: That bartender sure had one hell of a sunburn.
